How pathetic is that? I find it unbelievable that this is what social networking has become. Popularity being bought and sold. There are no other words to describe this other than sad, really sad.

You can call me crazy if you want, but it actually seems like a good idea to me. My list of real friends on my social networking site hasn\’t grown in years, and in that context the illusion of friends might be an interesting idea. It\’s sort-of like hiring a penpal for a small fee.

There is another site (www.mobilealibi.com) that offers both “Image dialer” calls (to make you look popular) as well as “rescue” or alibi calls to help you escape bad or boing situations.

Oh my God – I wonder what this will mean to the fight against fakers?
And what will happen when the fake profiles get so mainstream that everyone knows that you have “bought” a faker in order to be popular? Then you would probably be viewed as a loser…
