A lot of people, quite incorrectly, feel that if it isn’t marked, it’s not protected. Since that’s one of the more common myths about copyright, I felt it important to address.

Right, Jonathan. Good point. I’ll adjust my post to be a little more accomodating to the standard copyright position as well.

I definitely agree about CC licenses, they are the best way to go. Like you, I encourage my readers t use CC licenses for a variety of reasons.

What I was trying to get across, and may not have said clearly, was that it’s important to make it clear on every page that the work is protected by copyright. A lot of people, quite incorrectly, feel that if it isn’t marked, it’s not protected.

Since that’s one of the more common myths about copyright, I felt it important to address.

Nonetheless, definite agreement about the CC license…
